World of Books Re-Launches Sustainable Story Award in 2026 for an International Audience

World of Books has confirmed the launch of the Sustainable Story Award for 2026, with the introduction of participation from authors based in the US, alongside UK-based writers. This new award is aimed at rewarding authors whose work focuses on sustainability, climate, and the environment in their storytelling. The prize comes with a cash prize worth £25,000, where a winner receives £15,000 while two other runners up receive £5,000 each.

This new award is open to all fiction and non-fiction books, as well as children's books, which focus on topics like biodiversity, climate change, conservation, sustainable living and many others.

After a successful debut, the 2026 award takes on an international perspective and new judging panel that includes publishers, authors, and individuals advocating for sustainability. Apart from financial rewards, the winner will get mentoring from industry professionals in order to assist with project promotion and development.

The application period is open to previously published authors who have until 31st August 2026 to apply. It is the hope of the organizers that this program will inspire more authors to tackle environmental and social challenges through literary works.
